چکیده

This review gives an overview of effective field theory (EFT) as applied at finite density, with a focus on nuclear many-body systems. Uniform systems with short-range interactions illustrate the ingredients and virtues of manybody EFT; we also survey the varied frontiers of EFT for finite nuclei and nuclear matter. 1 Click here for quick links to Annual Reviews content online, including: • Other articles in this volume • Top cited articles • Top downloaded articles • Our comprehensive search Further ANNUAL REVIEWS A nn u. Electrostatic analysis of the charged surface in a solution via the finite element method: The Poisson-Boltzmann theory

Electrostatic potential as well as the local volume charge density are computed for a macromolecule by solving the Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE) using the finite element method (FEM). As a verification, our numerical results for a one dimensional PBE, which corresponds to an infinite-length macromolecule, are compared with the existing analytical solution and good agreement is found. As a ma...

On finite–temperature and –density radiative corrections to the neutrino effective potential in the early Universe Abstract Finite–temperature and –density radiative corrections to the neutrino effective potential in the otherwise CP –symmetric early Universe are considered in the real–time approach of Thermal Field Theory. A consistent perturbation theory endowed with the hard thermal loop res...

PT Symmetry and QCD: Finite Temperature and Density

The relevance of PT symmetry to quantum chromodynamics (QCD), the gauge theory of the strong interactions, is explored in the context of finite temperature and density. Two significant problems in QCD are studied: the sign problem of finite-density QCD, and the problem of confinement. It is proven that the effective action for heavy quarks at finite density is PT -symmetric. For the case of 1+1...

Different Symmetry Realizations in Relativistic Coupled Bose Systems at Finite Temperature and Densities

We revisited the calculation of the effective potential for self-interacting scalar field with U (1) charge at one loop approximation. We show that high charge densities can induce important changes in the phase structure of the theory. A class of very interesting phenomena appear when we introduce finite density effects, e.g. symmetry nonrestoration, inverse symmetry breaking and anticipation ...

Positivity of High Density Effective Theory

We show that the effective field theory of low energy modes in dense QCD has positive Euclidean path integral measure. The complexity of the measure of QCD at finite chemical potential can be ascribed to modes which are irrelevant to the dynamics at sufficiently high density. Rigorous inequalities follow at asymptotic density. Lattice simulation of dense QCD should be possible using the quark d...
